Invicta Men's 0513 Lupah Revolution Automatic Chronograph Diamond Accented Black Leather Watch Customer Reviews

I've always been the jewelry lover in our home. My husband quit wearing his high school ring by his freshman year in college, never got a college ring and wore the last watch I gave him (Fossil) only when I was looking. Once the battery died, the watch was never seen from again. In the years since that first watch, the only piece of jewelry he's ever worn was his wedding ring. This may be the piece of jewelry that changes everything. Despite the fact that the diamonds may add a little too much bling for his taste, he really likes this watch. The band on this watch does not lay flat; it attaches at a curve. Neither of us had ever owned a watch with this type of band, so Mike was not sure how it would wear. It is a great design; the curve of the watch band makes sure that the watch will not twist while you wear it. When you put the watch on face up, you can assure that it will be in the same position at the end of the day. Not only is the shape of the watch functional, but comfortable as well. This watch is self-winding, which is a great feature. If you happen to have a few lazy days or don't wear the watch for a while, you always have the option to wind it by hand. The really cool thing about the self-winding feature is the visual aspect on the back of the watch. The counterweight can be seen through the back of the watch, as can the watch gears. I can't express how cool this looks. Mike has actually taken the watch off several times to show people the gears in the back. It is a nice touch and shows off the great craftsmanship. There is something innately cool about seeing gears move on a watch, something that you won't get from a battery or quartz watch. The face of the watch is a very thick convex glass. It makes for an interesting visual addition to the watch. I suspect the slight magnification out the outer edges is by design to make the diamonds appear a little larger than they actually are. I was actually really surprised by the size of the diamonds; usually when jewelry has decorative diamond accents of this style, you see more of the settings than the actual diamonds. This isn't the case with this watch. I was very surprised by the generous size of the diamonds. I wish the description gave a cttw in addition to the number (53) of diamonds. There is a definite difference in the look and feel of a watch of this price and quality versus a less expensive watch. It is very heavy. Every care is taken in the smallest details of this watch. From the exquisite detailed stitching on the leather band to the beautiful mother of pearl dials, you can look at this watch and tell that it is a quality timepiece. With a watch like this, Mike does not have to "show" people his watch; they notice it on their own and ask him about it.As for how well it keeps time, the first couple of weeks Mike wore it, he reset it to the second every morning and consistently found that is was with one or two seconds after 24 hours. Sometimes it ran slow, but usually it gained time. For anyone not familiar with this type of watch, this is exceedingly good timekeeping. If I had any critique of the watch, it would be that the instruction book was a generic Invicta manual and warranty. For the cost of these watches, I would hope that the book would be specialized to my specific watch, not giving me information that may not apply to me. I can understand how this would be a lot of work for a company, and I guess more information is always better than not enough. So now, when we stop by the jewelry store to get my stuff checked or cleaned, we linger a little longer while he looks at the nice watches. I think it's a good thing that he's cultivating a taste for fine jewelry.... as long as he doesn't outshine me!

This Invictus anniversary edition watch came in a largish box. I assumed the box was stuffed with padding but it turned out that this watch needed its canary-yellow, ribbed stitched leather box. It's massive. Still, it must be said that the lovely tan suede interior displays the watch quite nicely. At first I was a bit disconcerted by the size of the watch. You can get some idea of why by looking at the sizing diagram with the pictures in amazon's product images. The second thing that struck me was how heavy it is. It has a large crystal dome-shaped face made of a material that goes by the trademark name of Flame fusion crystal. This is a kind of sapphire/crystal combination molecularly bonded in a very high temperature treatment and is almost indestructible. So if you want to take this watch cycling, it should be safe. The watch body is stainless steel treated with a gun metal finish. The face has chronograph stopwatch dials. What you might not be able to see in the photos is the cool semi transparent mother of pearl finish of the small dial faces and some of the trim. Because it is semi transparent, you can just make out some of the watch's inner workings. I thought looking at the layers of day and date dials was very cool. This watch is the first in the world to use the SW 500 automatic watch engine movement. If you're a watch enthusiast, you probably know what that means. If not, trust me, it's pretty cool. If you turn the watch over, you have a crystal back inlaid in the stainless steel body that lets you see the mechanism working inside as well as the spinning counter balance that uses movement to spin the weight. This means that the watch literally winds up when you move your arm. It's quite fascinating to play with.Despite being a big it is a beautifully made piece with large diamond inlaid 12 and 6 figures and small 4 clusters of diamonds for 1, 2 ,4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 11 o'clock. There is no 6 or 3. The minutes are clearly marked though the thick dome crystal makes it difficult to accurately tell the minutes. You have to look closely to see exactly what time it is.The leather strap fits the molding of the body perfectly and looks very stylish. The strap is leather partly to counter the weight of the watch. It has a very light buckle that I first thought was plastic. But if you look at it really closely you can tell that it's a lightly coated metal that makes a very sharp metallic sound.I would highly recommend getting some protective treatment for the leather before you sweat through the strap too much. It's a gorgeous piece and the choice of leather is very comfortable, but, unless cared for, the leather will eventually dry out from the salt and moisture in your skin and crack. One last note is that this watch is a real attention grabber. At first I felt it might be a little ostentatious to wear all the time but it has really grown on my husband and I after the initial surprise of the size wore off. This watch is easy to set. There are three pronounced knobs on the right hand side. The top one starts and stops the stopwatch; the bottom one resets it; the center crown sets the calendar when you pull it half way, with month changing when you turn it anti clockwise and date when you turn it clockwise. Time is set when you pull it a second time and twist. All very smooth and precise, and just like you would expect from a watch of this quality.Bottom line: this watch with its interesting, rugged styling can be a really special gift for the right person. I recommend it.

This is a BIG watch. It even comes in a big box. When you first hold it it feels heavy and bulky. It is a bit challenging to buckle the oh so comfortable leather strap. That being said, this watch is a breeze to set. A no brainer. And once you wear it (and you need to wear it to wind it... no battery, your wrist motion winds the excellent movement) it becomes more comfortable. It is bulky on your wrist, but you get used to it.Why would you want diamonds in a watch that seems more rugged than dressy? I think that is a waste on this type of watch. But there they are all over the watch face. Nice touch but a big extravagant. If you don't mind the ruggedness, big size that is, then you will love this watch. The chronograph function is very easy and simple.Excellent company and excellent watch for those who like a big hunk of a watch on their wrist.

This watch is comfortable, looks great on my wrist, and is very precise. It is an attention getter and a muscle builder. It was easy to set and the functions are pretty convenient to operate once you read the well-written manual. The leather band is very thick and strong. If you like the way this watch looks on the website, and it is your kind of style, try it out. My only complaints are:- It is very heavy, weighing half a pound.- The diamond numbers are pretty gaudy for my style.- The packaging is excessive and over the top, as is the $5000 price tag that is attached to it upon opening it.- The size of the watch is very large, as is currently the in-style.- The face of the watch is too busy to really be functional. From an aesthetic perspective this isn't a problem, but seeing what time it is takes longer than it should because of the amount of dials and other distractions on the face.- Many Invicta automatic watches have a "power gauge" to let you know if you are at risk of the watch stopping from lack of winding. This watch omits that useful feature. This watch isn't really my style, but if you are into this type of look, it is a good watch. Being able to see the insides through the back is pretty neat. It is made very well and is durable. The day after the watch arrived, I accidentally dropped it on the hard tile floor in our foyer. The tile chipped, but the watch was completely unscathed and continued working and keeping time.

Invicta's tend to get a bad rap from watch collectors who may have only seen their lower priced offerings and or a watch with quality control issues, and they tend to write off the brand. As a collector myself, I think this is foolish. The more expensive swiss made Invicta's represent a tremendous value in the watch marketplace and this particular watch is no exception. With its beautiful swiss automatic movement and diamond hour markers, this watch could easily sell for $1,500 or more (sure, the msrp is a bit ridiculous), but at $799 it is an absolute steal. In my entire collection which includes some very nice Movados and a Tag Aquaracer, this Invicta is already becoming one of my favorite watches: It's just so different. It has such a unique look and is so big and grand, it feels distinctive on your wrist and will definitely turn a few heads. The ONLY flaw this watch has is the curved flame fusion case must be viewed from a near 90* angle or it distorts the watchface. That is NOT a "feature" of an expensive luxury watch and it is quite annoying. I don't understand why Invicta just didn't make the crystal flush and why they chose to make it rounded, because it creates a lot of distortion if you look down at the watch at even a slight angle. I really don't like that about the watch.Looking at the watch as a whole, it's a tremendous value for all the quality things you get at a reasonable price. Automatics with swiss movements, chronographs, flame-fusion or saphire crystal, and diamonds especially do not usually sell under $1,000, and this particular Invicta represents a value that only Invicta can bring you.I recommend this watch without hesitation so long as the "viewing angle" problem doesn't sound like it will irk you as much as it does for me.
