Timex Timex Ironman 30-Lap Shock Resistant Combo - Black/Black Watch Customer Reviews

My old Ironman battery died and I found the price of the battery replacement to be more than 50% of this new watch, so decided to buy the new one. The old Ironman was all digital, and I prefer analog but like having all the features of a digital watch such as the chronograph, timer, dual time zone, and alarm. I also really wanted the same waterproof, shock, and durability features that all Ironman watches have, plus the original blue Indiglo back light (my old Ironman had the newer yellow, digit only illumination which I found to not be that bright at night). The Endure Combo Shock has it all, plus the digital display has the All Day Indiglo feature which uses holographic technology to make the display greenish during the day for better contrast. There was one reviewer on the Timex website who said that the display window was too small, but I find it to be just fine. Hard to beat the cheap price on Amazon ($47+) with Prime shipping, as I saw Zappos sells the same watch for the MSRP of $70. Maybe that will change since Amazon bought Zappos recently.

I've had this watch only a couple of weeks, but immediately discovered a couple of shortcomings, compared with my previous runners watches. I bought it because it combines an analog dial with all the same functions my earlier watches had, and because I liked its appearance, which is rather different from other sport watches. The problem is the greatly reduced size of the chronometer display - which is much too small. The underlying problem is that I am of an age such that I use reading glasses, something I don't take running with me. I can read it well enough in bright light, but in low light I cannot read it at all. And since I usually run after work, from 5:30-6:30, both watch hands are often located directly over the chronometer display, often making it impossible to see. That would also be an issue for early morning runners. My old watch (also an Ironman Triathelon - different model) has gotten rather beat-up, and the battery is dead, but it has a large, easily read chronometer display, and none of the issues this new watch unfortunately suffers from. It looks like I'll have get a battery for that old watch, and use this new one only when I'm not running.I can recommend this watch only for non-running applications, or for anyone with sharp near-distance eyesight.

I am satisfied with the product except I was led to believe that it had a month, day, and year display, but it doesn't reflect that and the directions are not for the faint of heart.........I also do not and will never use the lap feature. It does keep good time, tho.

I bought this watch because in the description it said the case was 46mm. I need a bigger watch for work, tough, easy to see at a glance, etc. Upon receiving it, it is a smaller watch, 42mm, the hands are hard to see, and the digital at the bottom gets blocked by the hands. The indiglo is even really bad, lights up green but difficult to see where the hands are (if you don't have 20/20 vision, as I don't any more) Anyways, I'm very disappointed.

Isn't the watch supposed to run when it arrives? The whole point of water resistant watch is that is made water resistant in the factory. I can't take it to a watch repair shop to find out why it doesn't work, since it won't be water resistant any more.I just don't get it.
